BIO
Simone Ginther (b. 1994, Dornbirn) is an Austrian contemporary painter and printmaker based in Imst. She is best known for her minimal abstract works on wood and linen, employing acrylic paint with hard edges in a matte finish. Her compositions, featuring geometric and organic shapes, explore a harmonious interplay of form, color, and structure. Through a refined aesthetic, Ginther’s work reflects a deep engagement with materiality and surface, creating an understated yet impactful visual language.
Central to Ginther’s artistic practice is the exploration of organic structures, clear lines, and balanced compositions. Her work is driven by an ethos of simplicity, embracing the inherent qualities of reused and repurposed materials in response to an increasingly fast-paced world. In 2025, she introduced the ‘Saudade’ series, a distinct departure from her signature minimalism. This series integrates photo transfer techniques using self-made photographs of surfing in Portugal onto wooden panels, merging them with acrylic painting and abstract elements. The resulting works capture the emotional depth of the Portuguese concept of "saudade," intertwining memory, longing, and the physicality of place within a layered artistic expression.
Ginther’s work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions across Austria. Notable presentations include her 2023 solo exhibition WERKSCHAU at Lehn7 Galerie in Imst and the 2024 group exhibition graffiti & unplugged at Kulturverein Siegmundsried in Ried im Oberinntal. In 2025, she is presenting Saudade, a solo exhibition in Imst, marking a significant moment in her evolving practice. Her works are held in private collections across Austria, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, and the United States, reflecting a growing international recognition of her contribution to contemporary abstract painting and printmaking.
